Hey ya’ll,

It’s me, droppin’ in to tell you to check out my new site. Made some revisions on it lately as I book more gigs, make new music, covers, and participate in music events here in LA. Can’t wait to fill it with more videos and photos as I grow and pursuit my love for music & singing. Definitely have plans in getting involved with the great music scene here in Los Angeles as I continue to grow as an artist. As you can see, I’m a super simple kind of gal, so that’s what you’ll get on my site. Check out my artist site here at lorrainebautista.com! You will find more live performances in the near future, and more content as I find the right time and people to work with. Thank you so much for sticking with me. Can’t wait to see what is in store next for me, and for ya’ll to join me in this super exciting journey.

Much Love,

2/20/20 The People’s Party: Elevation & Bar Lounge

IMG_4799.jpg

Wow, this year has been a great start for me thus far. Beyond my wildest dreams, I have performed twice at a local bar in Los Angeles in the past month that has only encourage and inspired my love and creativity for music. The People’s Party hosts shows in the area to showcase local talents and artists, bringing the community together for a great time and great music. If you were to tell me a year ago, this was gonna happen I wouldn’t have believed you. I feel so blessed to have been invited to both events and to simply have the opportunity to share my love for music with others. It has only fueled me to become the best version of myself that I can be as artist/ performer/ singer as I know there is much more of me to share.. It is the dream I owe to myself as a little young, now that I feel empowered to have trained and gotten my voice back. (A story I hope to share when I am ready).

Be on a look out for my upcoming EP, that will be releasing very soon within the next months. https://lorrainebautista.com

Update: Teaching at New School

New year, new plans. As I always say, being a part of Music Moves In Me has been a blessing thus far. This year I have the chance to be teaching additional classes– this time with toddlers age 2-3. Since it is a younger class, it will take some adjustments before I feel solid and ready to teach. But nonetheless am so thankful that I am in a position to share the gift of music to younger generations. Though the job itself is not much pay, the influence I have for the children to discover their own love for rhythm and sound is priceless. People wonder why I have such commitment to a job that is not financially rewarding, but I don’t do it for the money. It’s about the music, community, and children and that’s all I need to know that what I am doing is worthwhile. Super excited to have ya’ll with me in this journey, will definitely be keeping you posted as more exciting stuff arise.

2.20.19 Upcoming Bar & Lounge Performance

Just secured a spot for another bar performance. This time, I’m feeling a lot more physically, vocally, and mentally prepared. While perfection is something that all performers do strive for, as I admittedly do myself, I also am learning that it is about the connection an artist has with the audience. Performance is only another form of communication and for me, as an artist, I cherish that exchange since it is precisely what music entails. Nervous, but also — ready.

2.9.20 Local Bar Performance

Had the opportunity to sing my heart out a bar in Los Angeles. I performed “Whipped Cream” by Ari Lennox, one of my favorites at the moment. The club was filled with good vibes and so many talented artists that night. Though I waited nearly three hours to finally perform with a little alcohol in my system and almost no water.. I did the best I can vocally in spite of all the nervous. I know this is only the beginning for me and can’t wait for what else God has in store for me. So cliche, but if you truly put your mind to something you’re passionate about.. God will make miracles for you. Feel free to check out a clip of my performance here and my singing instagram here.

Much Love,

x Lo

KJazz December 2019 Newsletter Edition: KJazz Breaks Fundraising Record During 2019 Fall Pledge Drive

thankYou-F1018-v1.jpg

Dear Lorraine,

Stephanie and I want to thank you for your hard work during our recent Fall Pledge Drive.  We truly appreciate your help!

We want to share with you an overview of the terrific pledge drive results.  The total raised was $323,453.04 (this includes the $30,000 Herb Alpert Challenge Grant).  The average pledge amount was $175.  On the last day of the drive, we had $86,310.16 pledged from 453 individuals.  Comparing back as far as 2007, this was our single best day of fundraising.

As you may be familiar, if you have been following my site for a while now, our 2019 KJazz Fall Pledge Drive has come to an end. The Pledge Drive took place for about 4 days Thursday 10/ 31 to Sunday 11/3, and the outcome of the drive was incredible! As you read in the email above, we raised a total of $323,453.04. This went way beyond our initial goal of $60,000, and we couldn’t have done it without our volunteers, DJ Hosts, staff members, and of course our head supervisor! We worked as a team and the results shows! This single handedly marks the best pledge drive we’ve had so far in regards to fundraising. In exchange for donations our donors not only received special gifts such as flash drives, iPods, CD’s, restaurant gift cards, concert tickets, etc., but also an opportunity to win our sweepstakes! Both included the opportunity to win a pair of concert tickets to our annual Jingle Jazz Concert but also a 7 day trip to Paris.

Our donors were filled with excitement and thus, eager to contribute to the radio station. Their generous contributions allowed us to raise high amount of funds that we did in this pledge drive, not to mention the immense joy they get from their special gifts. We had volunteers commute from all over to make this event possible and we couldn’t be anymore grateful! I also thought I’d note that our volunteers were incredibly, kind, friendly, and knowledgeable considering that they tend to be of the older generations. I personally find joy in conversing with older people only because they are so wise and could offer plenty insight to my naive, budding mind. All donations and contributions make it possible for KJazz to serve its’ purpose of both educating and serving our listeners with the great jazz music that they love to listen to everyday! I am personally incredibly grateful to participate in a great cause such as KJazz this past year, and to know I help play a part in its operations and overall mission makes the hard work worthwhile. To top it off, today my manager offered me more hours in celebration of my first year anniversary with KJazz. My first year at KJazz as so far been so incredible. As an intern, I am grateful to have been offered an opportunity such as this because I’ve met some inspiring people and participated in such great music events! I know that this is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to continue growing with KJazz as both a team member, and aspiring artist myself.

If you’re a jazz cat, feel free to check out our upcoming Pledge Drive this Spring in April. Rock with us and grab your favorite CD in our next drive to hear in on your favorite tune, at KJazz 88.1FM.  Our music and hosts never disappoint!

Also thought I’d mention that I will also be releasing our upcoming KJazz newsletter in December/ January as there will be plenty happening in the next few months, stayed tuned for that!
