Let’s Chat: Concept of ‘Music Legends’

Came across this on my feed.. and it had me thinking. I want to discuss this with ya’ll or at least to me efforts, put this out there.

I don’t know about anybody else but as an aspiring artist, it’s always rubbed me the wrong way (even growing up throughout the years) when people toss around words like “talented” & “legendary”. For me, I believe such titles need to be earned through time, resilience, and hard work and is ultimately defined by their own personal mission of being artist. I believe such helps is what builds merit and credibility for a true artist. Those who have been named “legends” have left their mark of true artistry that hold substance and is in essence, revolutionary. Their work has brought an impact big enough to move a massive population of people, further inspiring generations of future artists & musicians. To them it’s not about the superficial, the glory or the fame, but their sole purpose of being an artist, musician, or what have you. A creative calling to go beyond themselves and touch others. The rest follows. And unfortunately, I feel as though this meaning has slowly deteriorated over the years and shows through the quality of today’s music due to the oversaturation of today’s music industry. While I think it is a good thing that people are feeling more open to owning their artistry, I also think it is best not to forget the meaning and value behind art and being a legend. Just some thoughts, what do ya’ll think?

Let’s Chat: Out of Curiosity . .

what would you guys considered as “gifted“? what is your criteria for someone who is gifted?

I know this may sound like an odd question to ask, but I ask this question out of genuine curiosity as I am sure that everyone may have their own interpretation/ definition of how they define someone to be gifted or even someone who simply has a “gift”.  We, or especially in my experience I see a lot of these terms such as “gifted” or “talented” to be thrown around in the public especially when it comes to certain abilities that are subjective like the arts/ music. But I would like to put this up for discussion and just to see it from others’ perspective. Hopefully this post may also aid you in any questions you might happen to have on this subject as well. To make it simple, what is your own personal telltale signs of someone who may have a “gift”.
